And furthering this, the Engineered Tech Layer features a seamless construction that increases comfort by eliminating seam-induced chafing throughout the base layer. This occurs by eliminating points where the materials could possibly bunch, while the design also creates the added benefit of a next-to-skin level of fit that benefits both comfort and moisture wicking. They also furthered this concept by incorporating targeted ventilation zones throughout the base layer, as well as a cycling-specific cut and targeted stretch that creates the proper "push-pull" for the movements of cycling. The Prosecco base layers are our mid-weight option and are made to wick moisture away from your body while adding a moderate amount of insulation. The first goal of this base layer is to move moisture away from your skin while adding minimal insulation for those cool days when your riding intensity is high enough and your outer layers are warm enough. The areas covered by the bibtight around the waist and up the back can get hot, so we used a lightweight PrimaLoft fabric to help even out the temperature. This baselayer works best when in contact with the skin, so both fabrics are very stretchy and the cut is slim. On extremely cold days we'll use this as a first layer under a Flanders Warm second base layer, or under a thermal jersey. But winter poses a specific host of challenges not found in other climaCodes, namely in the form of added cold air and your additional layers. This is where our new Winter LS Skin Layer fills the gap, tuned with a thicker knit "weight," taller collar, and more stretch than our Spring/Fall version for boosted insulation and flexibility under your outer apparel. A winter-tuned blend of carbon and polypropylene yarns—plus elastane— are employed, which draws moisture away from your skin and insulates your core, keeping you dry, insulated, and comfortable from the outset. The Winter Skin Layer relies on a Circular Seamless construction that's free of irritating side seams. The sleeves are sewn directly into the armhole to promote a full range of motion beneath additional layers.
