    Comments:

When I first test rode a Townie, I couldn't tell if I loved it or hated it. I now know I loved it. The ride and dynamic of this cycle is different from a traditional bike. I can tell that it works different muscles than I was used to. My husband and I use our Townie's to ride for exercise and to get places. My only complaint is I wish it came in some of the cool designs other Electra bikes have but that is minor. One of the few challenges we have noticed with the bike is that the flat foot technology does make the whole bike a bit longer than a traditional bike. We only noticed this when we loaded the bike onto our local bus's bike carrier which made us worry that it wouldn't travel securely. It has not had any problems, just the noticeable length. Love the bike! I want to ride it everywhere.

I have been riding off and on for about 24 years. I ride now for fun, fitness, and leisure. This is an excellent bike for this. When I have my endurance built back up I plan on doing some touring with the bike. I believe it will handle this just fine. I really am happy with my purchase.

Bought this bike Spring '13 and wasn't all that sold on it. Once I got used to it, couldn't get off it. Thought about riding everyday! Farthest I rode was 35 miles and even topped 15mph a few times. 45 degree weather and was on it. Neighbor said "You're not giving up that bike." Nope. Put black leather streamers, rack & bag and get a lot of compliments and questions. Did I mention, I love it!

I can get on and off without swinging my leg over the seat. I'm in my 70's and would just about have to quit riding if I hadn't found this bike with flat foot technology.

      Comments:

I have had a Trek 7300 for 14 years and have only ridden occasionally because it was hard on my back to be bent over to hold the handlebars, and my hands became numb often. I really like the upright riding posture that this bike features, it makes it a real pleasure to ride. I also liked the styling of this bike. After a couple hours of riding, my behind was a bit sore, but my salesman said that will become less of a problem as I ride more often, and bike shorts will also help. He said the stock seat is actually one of the more comfortable seats. The gears, brakes, and controls work great, but I wish there was a consistency between the front and rear gear controls; for the rear sprocket, you press the control on the right nearest you for easier pedaling, but the front gear control is just the opposite. I guess I'll get used to that, it seems to be the standard. The bike requires some effort to hoist and hang in my garage, I guess it's due to those big tires, but they do give a comfortable ride. All in all, I think this is a great bike and it will give me many years of comfortable riding.

        Comments:

I've used my Townie 21D for commuting to work (6 miles one way) for the last 2 years, April-October. I think it's a fabulous commuting bike. The upright position doesn't lock your head between your shoulders, giving you a wide field of view. The frame geometry lets you stand flat-footed a stoplights and what-have-you. The 2 inch tires will deal with curb jumping and gravel burms. The click shifting requires no attention.I have a townie rack which I use with 2 different Axiom commuter bags, an Electra Headlight, and a post-mounted rear light. My only regret is not getting a Townie with Fenders. My 21D has front shocks, and the after-market Electra fenders don't fit on this. My local bike shop here in Indiana (was able to find a Clip-on BMX style front Fender, which helps a lot in wet weather.Commuting aside, I'm 52, 6'0" and have a bad lumbar disk. Electras have saved my back.

I have plenty of room, nice big comfortable seat and was impressed with the overall quality.Even though it's very comfortable and fun to ride you still get a great workout which is why i bought it. The syling of the Electra bikes is really what caught my eye.

No strain on the hands, and with the right saddle, not so bad on the backside. I can't put both feet down flat at stops. Usually one foot flat and one foot on the crank.
